Khao Yai is a perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life with your family and friends. This hidden little town surprised us in many ways, small in size but hides lots of fresh new activities and adventures suitable for everyone. Khao Yai is a beautiful town and it is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
As Khao Yai is becoming increasingly popular destination nowadays, we decided to make Khao Yai our destination! I will recommend Khao Yai to anyone who is looking for a fun, amazing and unique destination. This simple underrated town is like a magical wonderland with something for everyone!

Khao Yai National Park- UNESCO World Heritage Site
The temperature at Khao Yai National Park is about 18 Degrees which makes our mood super elated.

Getting to Khao Yai
We took a night flight on Friday from Singapore to Bangkok International Airport and stayed in Bangkok to have a good rest before departing to Khao Yai the next morning.
The drive to Khao Yai is approximately 2-3 hours depending on the traffic conditions.
Prior to the trip, We booked a 10 seater minivan that will drive us from Bangkok to Khao Yai and around Khao Yai. This is the best and most convenient way to get around Khao Yai.
I would definitely recommend renting a car or van with driver to experience the different attractions in Khao Yai.
There are also buses available to Pak Chong town (near to Khao Yai), however, I have heard some people having issues getting around to the various attractions in Khao Yai.
Where We Stayed
There are many interesting and unique accommodation in Khao Yai. You can do your own research and find the one that interests you the most. For us, we stayed in Khao Yai Panorama Resort, a mushroom themed resort, suitable for mushroom lovers! Yes! That’s me!

Here is our room inside the mushroom resort
I personally love this resort as the room is very spacious and clean. The breakfast is also awesome as there are many mushroom related dishes. This is definitely a heaven for mushroom lovers!
There are family rooms available but do note that there are some rooms on the second level and the room itself may have two level. Thus, if you have young kids or lots of baggage items, it could be slightly troublesome and you need to pay more attention to their safety!

Here’s an itinerary on we did in Khao Yai!
Day 1
8AM – Bangkok Hotel to Khao Yai
Our day started at 8am and the drive to Khao Yai is about 2-3 hours. The drive to Khao Yai was quite smooth at least we manage to take a 2 hour nap before reaching the base of Khao Yai.
11AM – PB Valley
This is our first stop- the largest vineyard In Khao Yai
We sat at the restaurant to enjoy the calm and serenity of the lush greenery and cascading hill and mountain at PB Valley.
While waiting for the winery tour, we decided to also have our Thai lunch at PB Valley while enjoying the scenery. The restaurant was so packed that the indoor air-conditioned seats were fully taken. Sitting outside has a better view of the winery but there were many houseflies together with us.
I would strongly recommend making a reservation as it gets pretty packed especially during lunch time.
The winery tour is a must, as it brings you through the production flow of winery, providing you insights into the farm to table concepts!

We also explored the cellars and vineyard and got close to the grapes!

At the end of the tour, you will get to enjoy cheese and wine tasting!
The whole tour conducted in an interested yet professional way and the guide spoke fluent English. It was an informative and fun excursion through the PB Valley and all our us(young and old) enjoyed ourselves throughout with the tractor ride to the different pit stops.
Note: The 75 minutes tour is conducted 5 times a day (09:00 am, 10:30 am, 12:00 noon, 01:30 pm and 03:30 pm).
Price: 300 Baht per person
2PM – The Bloom
The bloom is Khao Yai’s largest flower garden where we can see many different types of flowers. This huge land of flowers stretching over a whopping 100 acres is a perfect place to take beautiful photos. It’s really interesting how they can maintain this giant flower garden when I can’t even take care of my plants!
You can also feed the sheeps here!
3PM – Primo Piazza Khao Yai
Primo Piazza Khao Yai is authentic European style architecture. On a Saturday afternoon, it is not crowded at all and gives a really relaxing feeling. We took many beautiful photos around Primo Piazza.

Bonus: There are alpaca and sheep in the shed of Primo piazza too.

There is a love locks tower on the left side of the entrance!
Entrance Fee: 100 baht (includes animal feeding!)
4PM – Palio Village
Palio is an Italian-themed shopping center. It has many unique shops but they are sold at a premium price, not really a place for shopping!
There are also sweet grapes, tomatoes, mulberries and cranberry for sales in Palio Village. We bought some to eat while we continue on our journey in exploring Khao Yai. I would recommend you to try their grapes and mulberry, we even came back the next day for more!
5PM – The Chocolate Factory
The chocolate factory is a paradise for chocolate lovers. You can enjoy an afternoon tea at this place with some chocolates. For us, we bought some biscuits and chocolates to snack in the van.
6PM – Baan Mai Chay Nam Museum and Restaurant
Ban Mai Chay Nam came up as a must visit restaurant when I was researching for places to visit in Khao Yai. As its name suggests, this place is both a restaurant and a toy museum with many interesting collections. The owner collects many toys and over time these items became antiques. The amazing part of this museum is that most of the toys are still working and we can just touch and play with it. Even though we are not a fan of vintage collection, we were truly impressed by the wide collection of items!
The purpose of our visit is to have dinner here! Here’s what we ordered! The food here taste really delicious. It’s worth coming here for a meal and at the same time being able to see the vintage toys.
Ban Mai restaurant is located beside the river and dining area itself is also surrounded by many antiques toys. I had a lot of fun exploring both the museum and the restaurant. Apart from the restaurant and museum, Ban Mai Chay Nam actually expanded and built a resort hotel. Located just opposite the restaurant and museum, the hotel is just a bridge away.
After dinner, the driver drove us back to the hotel to have a good rest.
Day 2
9AM – Panther Creek Resort
Panther Creek resort is a cowboy themed resort. We did not stay at this resort, but still decided to visit this resort to take some photos.

Photoshoot of cowboy town
The resort is designed with Indiana and cow boy style. These are the rooms for the guests to stay in.
Visitors have to pay 50 baht for entry and tour with a free drink.
We took a stroll around the cowboy town and captured many photos!
10AM – Scenical World (For thrill seeker)
For theme park lovers like us, how can we miss going to Scenical World? For a small town like this Scenical World has impressed us positively! There were many rides that were kids and adults friendly making this place suitable for family to visit! For thrill seeker, there is a bungee ride that is similar to G-Swing costing only $13! Scenical World is one of the most memorable places for us as we brave for one of the scariest ride of our life! And we survived! No regrets!
Hmm, how about our parents? While we went to Scenical World, we send them to Thames Valley resort right beside Scenic World where they can relax and enjoy tea while we enjoy our thrilling rides.
10AM – Thames Valley Tea-Room and Massage (To unwind and relax)
Thames Valley is an exquisite MUST VISIT when you are in Khao Yai. It is a countryside English hotel.
Who would think that this place is taken from Thailand?
We sat at the Castle tearoom where we can enjoy, relax and indulge from the wide range of pastries and confections.
1PM – Farm Chok Chai
Farm Chok Chai is the top thing to do in Pak Chong by Tripadvisor. It is also the largest dairy farm in Southeast Asia. Since it is the top thing to do, do come early to get the tour tickets as there are limited tickets per tour. For those that plan their trip in advance can book the tickets in advance through their website too.
We only managed to get the tickets for 2.30pm which is also the last farm tour for the day.
We would recommend going for the farm tour as it will bring you to the farm where you can get to see from cow-breeding to milking as well as the making of ice cream and ending the tour with a cowboy show.
5PM – Premium Outlet Khao Yai (Pak Chong)
After sightseeing, we decided to explore Khao Yai factory outlet to see if there are any great deals for grab! I was impressed that there are many brands in this outlet. However, most of the items are still not exactly worth buying.
This is one of the shops that we bought the most tops. Ripcurl has most of their tops at 70% discount. On top of that, there are additional discounts for more than 3 tops.
Absolutely value for money!
7PM – Home Thai Massage and Spa
After a long day walk, we went into Home Thai Massage and Spa which is opposite Pak Chong night market. The lady boss is very nice to offer us fruits as well. As for the massage, there are some good masseurs and some not so goods ones. Oh well, I think it is like that everywhere just whether you are heng or suay.
8PM – Pak Chong Night Market
Pak Chong night market is a local night market with a variety of foods and local products.

As we all love Thai food, we take away lots of food back to our accommodation.
We are very lucky to go in such a big group hence we can try many different types of food. We ordered grilled prawns, steamed fish, fried mamee noodles, mango salad, Mango sticky rice, octopus and many more! This is one of the cheapest and most delicious meals! I guess we just love night market street food!
Day 3
9AM – Breakfast Buffet
Before we depart to our last destination, we are served with our appetizing breakfast at Panorama resort.
10AM – Khao Yai National Park
How can we leave Khao Yai without visiting Khao Yai National Park?
Khao Yai National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Thailand.
Upon reaching Khao Yai National Park, it just felt so magical. There are deers running and walking in the grassland. If you are lucky, you may get to see the elephant (our driver saw it on that day)!
For nature-lovers, Khao Yai National Park is a sure place to visit! As the weather is so cooling, we continued our trek without feeling hot. We took many stairs down to Haew Narok Waterfall.I would say that we are a little disappointed by the volume of the flow of water. Haew Narok Waterfall is known to be the most impressive waterfall in July. We were there in March.
Khao Yai, A different side of Thailand
With Khao Yai National Park being our last destination, we headed to Bangkok airport where we will take our flight back to Singapore. Though it was a short 3 days getaway, all of us enjoyed the trip from the winery, flower garden, mushroom farm, dairy farm, to Italy-liked Primo Piazza, Italian shopping center, English style hotel, vintage toy museum, the cowboy town, amusement park, and even national park! I enjoyed every second the time we spend in Khao Yai and took away some great memories with my family! It’s certainly somewhere I love and don’t mind going again! The best thing is it’s not flooded with tourist YET! So quickly go before it is!

Hello!
We plan to visit Khao yai in December and your itinerary looks so interesting! Thanks for sharing! Would like to ask how long is needed if we visit the National Park? You did on the last day and also returned to Bangkok to cach your flight or do you need to stay another night in Bangkok?
As for the hotel, we will take a look though your “mushroom” hotel looks so cute! Hahah. Their rooms are the typical that can accommodate 2A2C?
How and where did you arrange the tour from? Would like to enquire and visit the places you did with an English speaking driver :). Thank you!
Hi Fen, the National Park took us 3 – 4 hours which we think is good enough unless you are a fanatic nature lover! LOL!
For 2A2C in the mushroom resort, I recommend the family suite (the one we stayed) coz u will be assigned with the room on top so u are staying at the mushroom head which will be fun for ur kids with a spiral stairs to access their beds…
For our English-speaking driver, you can contact Nic @ +66 80 816 1828 via whatsapp for price enquires! 😇
Hihi will the driver be guide for national park?
May i know how much they charge you?
I only have 2pax 😦
Hi, the driver we know only have mini van, which is a bit too big for 2pax and will be more costly. Suggest that you search online for driver that have sedan or mini mpv. That will be more econonical for 2pax! 😇
