With more and more Thai eateries opening in HDB area, The Talad Drink and Thai Kitchen is another new Thai Stall hidden around Toa Payoh HDB hub! I was expecting it to be just another ordinary Thai Eatery. But I was wrong it was an authentic Thai stall serving the best Thai cuisine I could ask for (even better than the one I had in BKK!!) I walked out of The Thai Kitchen feeling so satisfied and I knew I had to share with everyone!
This Thai Stall will bring your taste bud back to the unique and diverse taste of Thailand!🇹🇭🇹🇭
Overflowed with a huge variety to choose from!
It was tough to decide what to eat.😂
BBQ Squid or Steam Squid?
Pad Thai or Vermicelli?
Kang Kong or Kai Lan?
Pandan Leaf Chicken or Thai Fish/Prawn Cake?
Mango Sticky Rice Or Thai Coconut Ice?
There were so many options? What should we order?
Our menu for today!😛
Thai Milk Tea $2.50
Thai Fried Vermicelli Chicken $5
Homemade Thai Prawn Cake (3 pieces – $6/ 5 pieces – $10)
Baby Kailan With Crispy Pork $7
BBQ Squid with Thai BBQ Sauce $12
Home Made Pandan Leaf Chicken (3 pieces – $6/ 5 pieces – $10)
Mango Sticky Rice $5
Just like inThailand, they have chilli flakes, peanut and sugar for you to add flavour to your dish!
Thai Milk Tea $2.50
The Thai Milk Tea was made so perfect that I was already half satisfied before I started eating! It’s only $2.50 for such a big cup of Thai Milk Tea!
Thai Fried Vermicelli Chicken $5
By now, if you are following us, you would have realised we like vermicelli over Pad Thai. We tried the vermicelli from Mata Thai and Soi 47. But this is the best vermicelli of all! 👍👍Don’t be fooled by this normal looking tang hoon here! This is so so good! Everything from the flavour to the texture of tang hoon was perfect!! It was really nice that we could finish the entire plate in no time! There is only one choice of chicken, unlike other restaurants that could serve vermicelli with beef or seafood.
Homemade Thai Prawn Cake 3 pieces – $6/ 5 pieces – $10
We wanted Thai fish cake but it was sold out. We ended up having the Thai Prawn Cake which was absolutely delicious! It was crispy and fried perfectly to golden brown!! We will be back to try the Thai Prawn Cake! Or maybe order both during our next visit! But in my opinion, it is slightly expensive! $2 for one piece.
Baby Kailan With Crispy Pork $7
Skip Kang kong – Try the baby kailan with crispy pork! 👅
I used to associate Thai cuisine with Kang kong! Every time we had Thai, Kang Kong would be the first thing on our mind! But this time we ordered something different – Baby Kailan! It looks just like any other “zi char” vegetables, but the sauce was the key to it! It was packed full with flavour – sour and spicy (plus the savouriness of the fish sauce)! You know what I mean the Thai style! There is also chilli padi inside the vegetable, be careful not to accidentally eat it! It was refreshing with a burst of spice, sweet and sour! Another reason to order this is because it is served with crispy pork (the 3 layers roast pork kind)! It’s too sinful to order a plate of crispy pork so this dish allows you to have both at the same time!😛

Must dip in the Thai BBQ Chilli Sauce!!
BBQ Squid with Thai BBQ Sauce $12
At $12, the BBQ squid with Thai Sauce was one of our favourite food!
The squid was perfectly seasoned! It wasn’t too hard or too soft! It’s like an instant satisfaction from my sis and me- we love this! The Thai BBQ sauce was so amazing! You must dip the squid into the Thai BBQ chilli sauce that is served on the side! It was spicy but we couldn’t help but keep dipping it!👅👅

A cut in the middle for easy opening!

Dry, hard and burnt chicken wrapped in the Pandan Leaf.
Home Made Pandan Leaf Chicken 3 pieces – $6/ 5 pieces – $10
The pandan leaf chicken had a knife cut in the middle so that you can open without having to remove the pandan leaf! Sadly, the Home Made Pandan Leaf Chicken was disappointing. The chicken pieces were dry and hard. Especially at the side of the chicken, it was obviously black, chaota-ed and hard when bite. Could have been much better if they paid more attention during cooking to prevent it from being burnt.😭😭
Mango Sticky Rice $5
This is what I call Mango Sticky Rice! Omg! It’s so well made! 👍👍👍 Plus they serve blue rice here! So pretty! Just the way I like it, the coconut milk was infused with the sweet blue sticky rice! I think with this mango sticky rice, I will be able to resist booking an air ticket to Bangkok just to satisfy my craving for mango sticky rice! ✈️️👅🇹🇭
But the only problem is that the mangoes are served with the skin which means you need to remove yourselves! Some effort needed in removing the mango skin before you can enjoy the mango sticky rice. I got my hands sticky while removing the skin and realise that there is no place for me to wash my hands! Luckily, the staff allowed me to wash my hands in their kitchen area else I have to go home with sticky hands from eating mango sticky rice! Thank You Hehe!
This is the best neighbourhood gem in Toa Payoh that offers delicious Thai food at a reasonable price!! I was surprised to find such authentic delicious awesome perfect Thai food here. Why didn’t I know this place earlier! In short, everything was good(except the pandan leaf chicken)! The Mango Sticky Rice really impressed me, it was really delicious! The Talad Drink and Thai Kitchen will be the place to go when in need of a Thai fix! 👅👅
Head down to try out The Talad Drink & Thai Kitchen with your friends and family!☺️
I guarantee you will not regret!
